Industry-leading expertise and teaching methods
Why is training in safe lifting important?
The aim of safe lifting training is to reduce the risk of accidents during lifting work by improving knowledge of risk assessment, the correct use of lifting equipment and a clear division of responsibilities. Incorrect lifting is a common cause of serious workplace accidents and can have major consequences for both individuals and companies.
Through the training, participants gain an understanding of how to plan, carry out and complete lifting operations safely. The focus is on preventing risks rather than managing the consequences of accidents.

Course content
Our safe lifting training course combines theory and practice to give participants a comprehensive understanding of safe lifting operations. The course covers basic lifting principles, risk assessment and lift planning, as well as a review of applicable laws, regulations and standards, including AFS 2006:6.
Participants also gain knowledge of load attachment, lifting equipment, lifting angles and load charts, as well as how to carry out checks and inspections of equipment. The practical elements provide an opportunity to practise real-life lifting situations using current equipment.
Practical elements and equipment
The practical elements of the training are carried out using relevant lifting equipment, such as overhead cranes, cranes, mini-cranes or vehicle-mounted cranes, depending on the course structure. The practical sessions comply with current regulations and provide participants with experience of safe working practices in realistic environments.
During practical sessions, participants must wear the prescribed protective equipment, such as high-visibility clothing, safety shoes with steel toe caps, a helmet and work gloves.
Who should attend a safe lifting training course?
The Safe Lifting course is aimed at anyone who, as part of their work, connects, handles or is responsible for the lifting of goods. This includes, for example, people who work with overhead cranes, tower cranes, mobile cranes, vehicle-mounted cranes, wheel loaders with crane booms or other lifting equipment.
The training is also relevant for supervisors, signalmen and others who play a role in the planning, coordination or supervision of lifting operations. Knowledge of roles, responsibilities and communication is a vital part of safe lifting operations.
Legal requirements and responsibilities regarding lifting operations
Under health and safety legislation, anyone operating lifting equipment must have documented theoretical and practical knowledge. AFS 2006:6 sets out clear requirements regarding competence, visibility, signalling and cooperation between the operator and the signalman when lifting freely suspended loads.
By undertaking a safe lifting training course with Arbetsutbildningar, you ensure that both individuals and companies meet these requirements and can produce valid documentation in the event of an inspection or near-miss incident.
Theory, practical training and certificates
The theoretical part of our safe lifting training course can be completed online under the guidance of an instructor. Practical sessions are offered as an optional extra and are conducted on-site by arrangement. Upon passing the exams, participants will receive a training certificate and a personal certificate, which can also be registered on ID06.
When do I need to have completed the safe lifting training?
Anyone who operates lifting equipment in their work, such as loaders, signalmen and, in some cases, crane operators, must have completed the Safe Lifting training course in accordance with the Work Environment Act (AML). Health and safety representatives may also find this knowledge useful. By choosing Ausab for your training needs, you can ensure that you have the knowledge and skills required to maintain a safe and efficient working environment. Our courses are designed to provide you with practical skills and theoretical understanding that can be directly applied in your workplace.
