The importance of forklift training

Forklift training is essential to minimize accidents and injuries in the workplace. According to the Swedish Work Environment Act, the employer is obliged to ensure that the employee has the training needed for the job. By training your employees in the correct use of forklifts, you can ensure that lifting and transport are carried out safely, which protects both personnel and goods. The training provides a deep understanding of risk assessment, laws and regulations and how to handle different types of forklifts effectively.

The training is flexible, modern and adapted for both individuals and companies.

Course structure and content

Our forklift training covers several important topics:

Basic forklift knowledge

Understanding of the basic principles behind forklift operation.

Rules and regulations

Review of relevant laws and regulations, such as AFS 2006:5, which govern the use of forklifts.

Risk assessment and safety

How to identify and assess potential risks associated with forklift handling.

Practical handling of forklifts

Practical training in how to correctly use different types of forklifts.

Maintenance and inspection

Guidelines for regular inspection and maintenance of forklifts to ensure their safety and efficiency.

The theory can be completed online, while practical elements are mandatory to ensure that participants receive a complete training. After completing and passing the exam, training certificates are sent to course participants electronically, including registration on ID06.

Prerequisites and basic requirements for forklift training

To participate in the forklift training, participants must be at least 18 years old and have a good understanding of the Swedish or English language.

Machine learning

In addition to forklifts, Ausab also offers machine training for other types of work machines. These training courses are designed to give operators the knowledge and skills required to handle the machines safely and efficiently.

The importance of machine learning

Machine training is as important as forklift training when it comes to preventing accidents and injuries. By providing your employees with the right training, you can ensure that they are well prepared to handle the machines safely, protecting both personnel and equipment. The training covers risk assessment, safety regulations and practical handling of the machines.

Course content and structure

Our machine training covers several important topics:

Basic machine knowledge

Understanding of the basic principles behind machine operation.

Rules and regulations

Review of relevant laws and regulations, such as AFS 2006:4, which govern the use of work machines.

Risk assessment and safety

How to identify and assess potential risks associated with machine handling.

Practical handling of machines

Practical training in how to correctly use different types of work machines.

Maintenance and inspection

Guidelines for regular inspection and maintenance of machinery to ensure their safety and efficiency. The training includes practical elements where participants have the opportunity to practice handling forklifts and machinery in realistic work environments.

These elements are carried out using various types of equipment and follow current laws, regulations and standards. After completing the training and passing the exams, participants receive a training certificate and a personal certificate.

What does the law say?

According to the law, anyone who drives/uses forklifts and other work machines must have documented theoretical and practical knowledge. This is provided to the driver in our training concept. In addition to the training certificate, a driving permit is required for each workplace that the driver is to drive. According to AFS 2006:5 Section 29, a forklift may only be used by someone who is familiar with the work and who has documented theoretical and practical knowledge for safe use. Furthermore, the regulations describe that the employer is responsible for providing the training required for the safe handling of forklifts and machines.

By choosing Ausab for your training needs, you can ensure that you have the knowledge and competence required to maintain a safe and efficient work environment. Our courses are designed to give you practical skills and theoretical understanding that can be directly applied to your workplace.

Can I drive a truck if I have a regular B driving license?

No, to drive a forklift you need a training certificate for the type of forklift you intend to drive and a driving permit from your employer according to AFS 2006:5 § 18 & 19.

I will only be driving in a fenced area, do I need a forklift license?

Yes, everyone who drives a forklift must have a training certificate and a driving permit for the specific workplace.

Does a driving license have to be available?

Yes, this must be issued by the employer. If the forklift driver is hired, the hirer must issue the driving permit. The permit must be personal and state which types of forklifts and which tasks it applies to. Failure to issue a driving permit may result in a penalty fee from the Swedish Work Environment Authority of SEK 15,000 up to SEK 150,000 depending on the number of employees in the company.
